This Barryville, NY property is tucked into a beautiful woodland setting, with large natural rocks scattered throughout the landscape. The client—an artist—had recently built a new studio just steps from their home, but the area around it was pretty bare, mostly dead grass and gravel.
The goal was to design a landscape that would complement the character of the art studio while feeling natural, cohesive, and inviting within its surroundings. Low maintenance was a key priority for the client, so we focused on a palette of native evergreens, grasses, and shrubs that would thrive with minimal intervention.
The result is a landscape that softens the studio’s edges, enhances the existing terrain, and creates a seamless connection between the built structure and the surrounding woodland.
